Newtown Square Railroad Museum in PA
Before vehicles filled the streets from Delco to Philly, there were trains. As many as 13 trains per day traveled the Pennsylvania Railroad route from Philadelphia to Newtown Square, carrying everything from milk to mail to horses to people. Not only were those trains a mode of transportation, but they planted the seeds of development for the communities now known as Upper Darby, Haverford, Marple, Radnor, and, at the end of the line, Newtown Square. Today, the Newtown Square Railroad Museum recalls this significant piece of Delco history and is an incredible way to "stop, look, and tune in" down the tracks of their past.
20 Students have been killed
It is April, and the School District of Philadelphia released alarming numbers on Monday. According to the School District, 100 students have been shot since the start of the school year, 20 of which have died. According to the violence prevention, education, and intervention organization, twenty Philadelphia schoolchildren will have no more hopes and dreams. However, the fact that there haven't been 100 homicides is luck. Some of the situations happened, like on the way to Simon Gratz High School, a 15-year-old sophomore Devin Weedon, was shot. Nicolas Elizalde, 14, was killed in a shooting on Sept. 27 outside Roxborough High School, and four other teens were wounded after being ambushed as they left a football game and many others. This situation is troublesome. I hate to think students are no longer safe when going to school. Read more.
